We loved staying at the Hague Hotel School in Amsterdam, which is conveniently located just a short tram ride to the city center. Here, each room is modeled after a different hotel chain, so the staff (who are also the students) can fully learn the nuances of hospitality. You might think that having a learning staff sounds like a nightmare, but take it from a seasoned hotel worker that these kids are super helpful, professional, and waaaaaay more eager to please then most service industry professionals. Basically these kids haven’t been burned by the acid of serving an ungrateful mass of humanity … sorry… I worked way too long at the Mondrian hotel.

Anywaaaaay… this is a great place to stay, has a few great dining options, and is definitely a unique and cheap place for budget minded people looking for the luxury of a fully functional hotel. Go.
